The very difference between ego and self-respect is: ego is false impression of our self while Self-respect is based on real assessment of our self. Ego, demands, whatever we don’t deserve while self-respect demands, whatever we deserve. Everybody has every right to live with Self-respect but not with ego. Further, one should give respect to earn respect because we get only whatever we give. If, we will show ego to someone, then, in response, we will also get egoistical response. That’s why, it is said that ‘don’t do unto others whatever you don’t want yourself from them’.
