They should properly discuss about the job with those persons who have already resigned and know the situation behind the glittering royalty of civil services. Why they can't sense the challenges of a civil servants before joining it? Or, they are in illusion of being the sovereign body to take everything in their own hands? Nowadays, due to the internet and smart phone everything is accessible to everyone. You may know about everything. Even communication with everyone is quite possible. Why shouldn't they take counseling from those who have already resigned.
May be it is coaching institutes which are responsible for these delusions. They show them very fairy tales about civil services just to take advantage of them. Parents also start dreaming big of their sons and daughters, without realising the complications involved in it. Mostly, the candidates are under pressure to perform extraordinarily. They want to show the society that they have achieved enviable success. But, to continue with that success in the long run seems difficult and sometimes impossible. And after resignation people make them feel, defeated.
But, this resign could be an opportunity to re + shine in future in a different way. They should show the society that they are the real civil servants who really wanted to serve the society. Their are several social activists who never aspired for any position like Anna Hazare etc. but could bring a drastic change in the society. And thus they earned much more respect from the society than any civil servants. So, there is no disappointment for a real hero of the society. There where is will there is way.
